Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery Team
Minimum Requirements For All Members

For those who have met the minimum qualifications, passed their probationary period, and are voted into membership with the Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery Team must continue to meet a set of minimum standards in order to remain in good standing as well as sustain membership with the Team. Please find below a summary of these standards. Detailed information and other specific requirements will be found in our Team Bylaws.

Support Members:

Those who are support members on the team and want to qualify for operational status shall also be required to obtain the 3 classes as stated in Article VI, Section A of the Team Bylaws, and any other classes deemed necessary by the federal or state emergency management system.

All members, except Associate Members, are expected to vote in general elections.

Personal Equipment & Supplies:

Carrying the appropriate equipment is an essential part of field preparedness for the Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery Team (SAR) worker. The SAR worker must be responsible for his/her own ability to provide for personal safety and comfort while in the field. SAR workers are expected to provide their own personal gear, clothing, and improvisational tools for use on SAR missions.

A 24-hour pack is the absolute minimum that SAR workers should carry during a SAR mission. The contents of the pack shall allow SAR workers to be self-reliant for a period of time should a bivouac become necessary. If a victim is encountered, the contents can also be used by the SAR worker to stabilize and assist the victim until further help can be procured. In addition, the pack and its contents can be used to maintain for the SAR worker so as to maximize effectiveness in the field.

The contents of a ready pack can vary greatly from one area and season to another. Generally, however, certain components should be considered standard. A Team approved Minimum Personal Equipment Checklist may be downloaded
here.

Team Uniforms:
All members are issued a team hat, identification card, short sleeve shirt, sweat shirt, and long sleeve shirt.

Resigning or Dismissal From The Team:
Any member may voluntarily resign from the Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery Team at anytime by submitting a written letter of resignation to the Team Chief.
