Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery Team
Membership Application Process
The Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery Team membership process is easy. Volunteering your time for training and other events can be hard enough, so we don't believe in creating anymore paperwork than we have to. Below is a brief outline of the application and membership process:
Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid state drivers license.
Complete an initial 1-page application to the Team.
Attend a interview meeting scheduled by the team chief.
After the meeting, other paperwork to complete your personnel file must be completed which includes state mandated forms (i.e., workman's compensation, background check, etc.) as well as a detailed application and medical history, emergency contacts, etc.
All new members must serve a 3-month probationary period. During probation, new members must meet 75% of all trainings and meetings.
The initial team application must be completed in its entirety and returned to Chief Sandra Green at the scheduled interview meeting.
Below is a summary of the application process and probationary period that all are expected to follow:
All applications submitted will be reviewed by the chief. Applicants may be required to attend a personal interview with the officers of which the results will be presented to the membership. The applicant will be notified of the results, and if accepted as a member of the Team the applicant will begin a probationary period. |
Probationary members are expected to attend 75% of all trainings and meetings while on probation. Justified excuses are accepted as long as the chief or assistant chief is notified in advance of the absence. |
| Probationary members are not allowed to vote on business conducted in team meetings or other team related matters. After successful completion of the probationary period, the applicant will be recommended for membership by the officers to the general membership. Voting for approval by a simple majority will take place at the next regular monthly meeting. |
| New members should understand that successful completion of the probationary period does not bring with it an automatic operational status. Instead, new members can become active in the organization as full members with all rights and privileges thereof, and be able to test for operational status at the next available dates. |
In the event that a member does not pass the membership vote or ceases attendance, notifications shall take place in an effort to determine the member’s intentions and to collect any organizational property the member may have been issued. |
