About The Four Rivers K-9
Search Rescue & Recovery Team
The Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery Team is a nonprofit and totally volunteer driven specialized rescue and recovery squad based in Kentucky. While we are now affiliated in Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee, we will respond to calls for help in any jurisdiction that requests our services under emergency management.
Our primary goal as a specialized rescue squad is to provide assistance to various government and local agencies by locating lost, missing, or overdue persons. Regardless of the time of year or weather conditions, we are available and on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While most all of our volunteers who serve on our team are highly trained, no one on our team receives remuneration for their time or experience. Each team member must provide his/her own fuel for their vehicles, food for their K-9s and horses, vet bills, air for dive tanks, and any other specialized equipment needed by any member or animal to allow them to complete the search and rescue mission.
In order for team members to go out on assignments they must complete mandatory training in the classroom as well as in the field. Before K-9s can be deployed on assignment they are required to be qualified and mission-ready which requires at least 2 years of advanced education.
Our trained and experienced volunteer team members will respond to missing persons searches, homicides, suicides, natural disasters, or other tragic events at no charge to the requesting agency. Our team consists of a variety of trained professionals from all walks of life and education. On the Four Rivers K-9 Search Rescue & Recovery
Team we have K-9 Handlers and backup handlers, Mounted SAR, divers, and other administrative and support staff.
